Taking a punt
While mostly I look at forex markets and the like, I have been using one horse racing betting system or another for years.
Not surprisingly the returns i have gotten have been as consistent as the effort I have put into consistantly following my betting system.
Changing Times
At the beginning of the year I purchased an excellent horse racing software program. Frankly some of the commodity markets I was in were simply too volatile for my taste and I wanted to be in out of markets quickly and with minimal exposure.
I have posted about this previously.
A few friends of mine asked me what else was out there that was going to help them build up their bank to fund this (AUD7K) investment.
To be honest I dont like providing this kind of advice to anyone. My ideas of risk and sound money management are different from other people’s.
Horse Racing Betting Basics
For many people this market is too different from what they are used to.
For people who like to gamble well… I lot of them are not particularly keen on betting systems because they then have to keep account of what they are betting on and the outcome wins and losses that occur. They like the illusion that they are in control with no plan, no money management and no strategy to make profits.
Keep it simple – produce great results
A few days ago i discovered something interesting. A simple easy to understand and implement betting system that has been developed and refined over more than 16 years.
Quite frankly if I had found it a few years ago would have saved me not only thousands of dollars but some hard lessons.
Why I am suggesting it?
- It works.
- It’s simple, yet thourough
- it explains how the horse racing industry works and how you’re protected
- You can use it to teach yourself all you need to know to get started
- You can practice on paper until you are confident it works
- It has a total one-off cost of USD47.00

Do you want to bet on horse racing?
Want to have the greatest return on your horse racing bet?
There are many literally hundreds of software packages and systems being sold every day which don’t work.
The key to using these systems is knowing what to look for.
Sound obvious?
Well I am not talking about on the screen of the system or software itself but in selecting a software system in the first place.
The most important factor is finding the software that best suits you and your goals.
The second factor is knowing exactly what exactly is the service being offered by the seller (vendor of the software or system.
The third factor is doing your homework so you know what are the options available and what they can do for you.
How much should it cost?
Software ranges anywhere from free limited systems to $50,000 – $60,000. As you may be aware this is one industry where price does not always equal quality.
The average in the industry is around 10,000-12,000.
In my opinion even this is a bit rich for what is offered.
8 things to look for in horse racing software.
- You get structured training and support from the company behind it.
- The package includes a forum or community so you can learn and refine your strategy with the help of others direct experience.
- Has a paper trading / practice mode so you can get to know the software before risking capital.
- The company offers a trial or cooling-off-period so you can work out wether it is right for you.
- The investment and plan that the company suggests to get you started fits with your financial goals and position.
- The system does not lock you into their exclusive data service for expensive monthly fees.
- The betting system places bets from within the software
- The golden rule – has a money management system built in eg stop loss, bank management etc.
These are the rules I used to find software that works and I could afford.
They gave me the help i needed to get started and I found a community of people to refine my knowledge and help increase my returns.
They also offer a free (unadvertised) weekly tipping / tipster service that is absolutely awesome.
The horse racing software I picked?
Because I am in Australia, I picked BettorTrader. They fit a number of my criteria and let me take the time to have a look, try it out and make up my own mind. This link takes you to their site where you can seen what the benefits are for yourself.
What next?
In the next week we will be launching a dedicated site looking at the criteria for selecting horse racing software and systems.
Now that I have found one that works I am going to continue the hunt for other software and tools from around the world including the UK and USA. If you have any suggestions please let us know.
